hello. my name is hyunwoo jung. i am a south korean fashion designer currently living in toronto, canada. i am currently finishing up my fourth year at toronto metropolitian university (previously known as ryerson university) where i am studying fashion design.

my history: i was born in canada, but grew up in bangladesh, dhaka. when i was 12-13 years old, i moved to canada to be closer with my family. i grew up playing with all sorts of toys, including dolls and action figures. growing up, i was always into making stuff. i was making stuff out of branches and vines, boxes and duct tape, and other random objects i would find. when i was little, i would stelthily try on my sister's dresses as i was in awe of their shapes, texture, volume, and movement.

my interests: in fashion, i enjoy playing around with shapes and illusions, and overall adding the element of having fun during the process of creation and when being worn, but also, the garments being versatile at the same time. a lot of my inspiration comes from nature, dreams i have, and everyday objects. this inspired me, at the age of 9, to hand-sew clothes for my toys, dolls, and stuffed creatures.

next steps and goals: i hope to expand my connections within the creative field, learn more about the fashion world and its history, and finally, inspire others. i also hope to be able to give back to my communities and partake in helping other communities. growing up where poverty was the majority of the population, i knew i wanted to make a change, and i hope to continue to do so in my own way.
